What is jubrele?
Jubrele is an estrogen-free mini pill that contains the active ingredient Desogestrel. It is equally active with Cerazette and is offered by various manufacturers as a cheaper alternative.
Like Cerazette, Jubrele is one of the newer minipills that reliably inhibit ovulation. It thus provides a safety against contraception comparable to combination pills – without the estrogen-related risks.
The Pearl index is about 0.4, which means very high reliability.
Active Ingredients & Mechanism of Action
Active ingredient: Desogestrel 0,075 mg
Jubrele works by the same mechanisms as Cerazette:
Ovulation inhibition: In over 97% of cycles, ovulation is prevented. This is the main mechanism of contraception.
Zervixschleim: The cervical mucus is more viscous and impenetrable for sperm.
Gebärmutterschleimhaut: The endometrium is less built up.
Since no estrogen is present, estrogen-related effects such as water retention or increased risk of thrombosis do not occur.
