What is Relvar Ellipta?
Relvar Ellipta is a combination inhaler of GlaxoSmithKline which contains the inhalative corticoid Fluticasonfuroat and the ultra-long-acting beta-2-agonists Vilanterol (LABA). It is authorised to treat asthma and COPD.
The special advantage: Relvar has to be inhaled only once a day and offers 24-hour protection. The Ellipta inhalator is particularly easy to handle – you open it, breathe in, ready.
Relvar is available in two thicknesses: 92/22 μg and 184/22 μg.
Active Ingredients & Mechanism of Action
Active ingredient: Fluticasonfuroat, Vilanterol
The two active ingredients complement each other optimally:
Fluticasonfuroat (ICS):
- Modern version of Fluticason
- Strong anti-inflammatory effect
- Long receptor binding (24 hours)
- Reduced bronchial hyperreagiability
Vilanterol (LABA):
- Ultra-long-active beta-2-agonist
- Works 24 hours
- Fast action (15 minutes)
- Relaxes the bronchial muscle
Synergy effect: The combination is more effective than the individual active substances. Corticoid and LABA strengthen their action.
