What is valette?
Valette is a combined hormonal antibabypilla that contains the gestagen dienogest and the estrogen ethinylestradiol. It has been developed by Jenapharm and has been one of the most commonly prescribed pills in Germany for many years.
Valette and Maxim are equally active – they contain the same hormones in the same dosage. The difference lies in the brand name and occasionally in the price. Both are considered to be well tolerated and offer positive effects on skin and cycle in addition to prevention.
The Pearl index is 0.1 to 0.9 when used correctly.
Active Ingredients & Mechanism of Action
Active ingredient: Dienogest 2 mg, Ethinylestradiol 0,03 mg
Valette prevents pregnancy through several mechanisms:
Progress prevention: The combination of hormones suppresses the release of the gonadotropins FSH and LH from the gland of the brain. Without these hormones there is no ovulation and no ovulation.
Zervixschleim change: The mucus in the cervical neck is toughened by the hormones and more difficult to penetrate for sperm.
Endometrium effect: The cervical mucosa is less developed under dienogest influence and is less susceptible to possible indentation.
Antiandrogen component: Dienogest inhibits the effect of male hormones on skin and hair follicles. This explains the often positive effects on acne and oily skin.

Available Dosages
active substance composition:
- Dienogest: 2 mg
- Ethinylestradiol: 0.03 mg (30 micrograms)
Available pack sizes:
- 21 film tablets (1 cycle)
- 3 x 21 film tablets (3 cycles)
- 6 x 21 film tablets (6 cycles)
Intake cycle: 21 days take, then 7 days break with withdrawal bleeding.
How to Take
Initiation of receipt: First tablet on the first day of control bleeding. Immediate protection is then given. At the beginning of day 2-5 additionally prevent 7 days with condom.
Other application:
- Take each day at the same time
- Suck with water
- Independent meals
Pause and new beginning: After 21 tablets take a break for 7 days. On the 8th day start with the new package, regardless of the bleeding.
For forgotten pill:
- Less than 12 hours: Take away immediately
- More than 12 hours: Descent + 7 days condoms
Magen Darm Problems: In case of vomiting or severe diarrhea within 4 hours after taking a replacement tablet.
Contraindications
Notes:
- Venous or arterial thromboembolia (currently or in prehistory)
- High risk of thrombosis by several factors
- Heavy liver disease
- Liver tumors
- Hormone-dependent tumors
- Inexplicable vaginal bleeding
- Migraine with aura
- Pregnancy
Relative contraindications:
- Smoking over 35 years
- Strong overweight (BMI > 30)
- Controlled high blood pressure
- Diabetes without vascular damage
- Familiary thrombosis tendency
Possible Side Effects

Occasionally:
- Migraine
- Libido changes
- Weight fluctuations
- Skin changes
Selten, but seriously:
- Thrombosis (Beinvenen, Lungenembolie)
- Heart attack, stroke
Note: Immediately to the doctor with: leg swelling, calf pain, breathability, chest pain, sudden headache, visual disorders.
Positive effects: Often improvement of skin image and cycle regularity.
Interactions
Deficiency reduction by:
- Antiepileptic (Phenytoin, Carbamazepine)
- Rifampicin
- HIV drugs
- St. John's wort
Valette can affect:
- Lamotrigin (mirror sinks)
- Ciclosporin (mirror)
No relevant interaction:
- Standard antibiotics
- Short-term painkillers
