What is OeKolp?
OeKolp contains estriol, a weak natural estrogen that is applied locally in the vaginal range. It is used for the treatment of vaginal atrophiic and dryness, which are caused by oestrogen deficiency after the alternating years.
OeKolp is available as vaginal cream and as vaginal cups (Ovula). Since estriol only acts locally and hardly reaches the bloodstream, it has significantly fewer systemic side effects than oral hormone replacement therapies.
In contrast to systemic HRT preparations, in pure local estriol therapy, no additional gestagen is usually required.
